DIVERSE YOUTH NETWORK
Diverse Youth Network Association (or DYN) was born of an idea at the University of Pécs, Hungary, at Wlislocki Henrik Special College program (a program for students with disadvantaged families, helping them with grants, programs, mentors etc.) from disadvantaged students of the university. The members of the program wanted to include young people into an active community. That grow to be the Diverse Youth Network. The members are committed to help and support poor, disadvantaged groups. They believe in the power of volunteering and in an open, accepting society. They do not receive any support, the network is self-sufficient, it sustains itself through the programs.
The legal frames of the organization are set up by Roma students. Its main activities are to help to build an open, accepting and diverse society. Diverse Youth Network addresses minority communities such as Hungarian Roma people any other groups who are marginalized in today’s society. DYN helps the groups and its members to raise their voice, increase their activities, and with this embracing the diversity of our society. The organization supports diversity through national and international projects. To form and enhance the knowledge about Roma history, culture, identity – these are all essential elements of their work.
DYN organize international youth exchange projects for disadvantaged students, they publish in many ways to form the public opinion. They host events, public talks, conferences with successful Roma guests, expert men and women, to talk about challenges in our society.
